Upcoming Event: A Play, "SO FRESH"

                  

Coming to stage is, The O. N. E.’s dancing stage play entitled “So Fresh!” Viewers will experience The Ills of Society, The WAY Out then The Freshness of Life. This production will take place at the Beulah Auditorium located on Clifton Springs in Decatur on Saturday May 3, 2008 at 1pm & 6pm. This dramatic experience touches on the multiple issues that plague our society today. These issues vary from crime and violence, homelessness and poverty, negative media images, broken families, lack of self love, lack of knowledge and lack of true prosperity. Through dancing, acting, singing and other performing arts, the answer to all these problems is given. Viewers will leave with a fresh appreciation for life and a new drive to achieve their goals and get the most out of life. This live and exciting urban event will feature Hip Hop battles, African, Salsa, Ballet, Ballroom and Mime dance, Poetry, Singing, Modeling and more. This is an event you would not want to miss!!!                        

Best of all this production is open to the public FREE of charge.   

The O. N. E. is excited about this opportunity to give back to the community. All are welcome. This production is the coming together of a number of school’s, churches and individuals from around Atlanta in unity to fulfill one great purpose. With a cast of approximately 70 individuals, we are expecting an audience of 1100 per show totaling over 2000 people.

TV SHOW TAPING on last Saturday 4/19/08

Well, not (hating Monday) at this particular time....Good Hook! 

I did a tv taping for a fashion special, Urban Fashion TV, to be aired in the near future on last Saturday, 4/19! 

I'm soooo psyched--had my beautiful models come out and show their support plus picked up 2 new ladies: one at the event and the other thru my male model Reggie in the brown/blk variegated cowrie outfit.  I have to admit that yup I was nervous b/c I hadn't been in front of the camera hosting my own show in quite a while--pre-Katrina--but I suppose I did the best I could at that time.  I'll just wait and see the outcome--it may grow on me, teehee.  My models changed twice except for my daughter--I wanted to make her a hat but got caught up w/getting the models ready and such.  Also, there was an impromptu photoshoot of my bathing suit attire of 3 or 4 of the models--look, I was in the back pulling hooks, er like pulling hair.  Ok, you got the drift...nah, actually I wasn't that bad but Dee Hill, another designer, needed her time to showcase as well so had to make quick decisions on outfits--I usually overpack since I'm a Spontaneous Looper!  All in all, it was a blast--had a gr8 connection with the producer and there is a huge possibility of another show w/my crochet wears--go HOOK go!

REMEMBER--THE ONLY THING YOU LOSE BY NOT TAKING A CHANCE IS THE OPPORTUNITY...

I got my Hook & my 2-step, it's on!!!!

I had to take a nice, long walk in the wilderness in the back of my property to do some soul-searching.  Altho I am doing alot of jobs and staying busy, I don't want to lose sight of me...Sometimes it really is ok just to "veg out" or sit awhile and think.  I keep thinking I have to have a Hook in my hand to be creative but the mind doesn't stop the flow -- I can only do so many shows in so much time.  I am learning in this business that when people request you, there are times when venues/people fail and fall away so those are the needful moments to remain balanced.  It's good to receive future requests:  to speak at a school, another fashion show next month,  crochet classes, magazine & radio interview, photoshoot but I can't lose sight of me!!!!

So, here's to dancing w/Hookie but here's also to sitting it out once in awhile...

I had an awe!some time today at the final dress rehearsal for April 26th's "A Diversity of Talents" Fashion Show.  Well, I got to see the 9 models--3 male--wearing my designs that I hooked furiously Fri-Sunday to complete. Oh why do I torture myself so to start & finish 6+ designs?! 

                                              Because you're krazy!

Who said dat?!  But tis true...I have a 10 minute slot for that particular segment  (Army swimwear) and yet my models rushed thru it in 2 + mins.  Hold up!  Let's do this again..3rd time, we finished the whole song, which was almost 5 minutes.  Now, that's better. I may make a few more pieces and let them go out twice.

There seemed to be some intimidation among the designers with showing their designs on the walk-thru with so many people watching.  Personally it'll be alot more professional with the hair and make up done and the crowd at the venue watching.  They've come to see a show and I'll hear -- probably for the first time -- an American Idol star sing live.  (Diana DeGarmo) But it was what it was and we're all there to support each other and the charity. 

I had a male model approach me about being in the scene...Ain't that sweet?! 

Met again with the hair and make up artists and one of the musical performers.  I love classical music--opps, forgot the name of the group.  It'll come to me and even sooner if I find my list...

Well, afterwards headed over to a buffet with a friend.  Alot of stares and a few compliments.  I used my Chinese w/the waitress--blown away...

Back to the "stares"...Like I've said people are not use to creatively hooked folks.  I love me so if you stare, I might smile or might challenge you.  All in all, it's curiousity.  Man, I'd stare--ahem!--"notice" an unique individual expressing themselves.  Shoot, I'd want to meet them and exchange numbers and do something creative with them...oh where, oh where are YOU in this vast city of Atlanta?!   hmmm, in my mirror, wink.
